The holiday season is upon us and with it brings joy and happiness, but also stress. Traffic jams, shopping, and all of the hustle and bustle that the holiday season brings tend to cause fatigue and many times illness as a result. So what are the ways by which we can ensure that we stay healthy during the holiday season?

Staying healthy during holidays takes good habits and being cognizant of factors that go into maintaining a healthy body and immune system. It is very easy to put others first during the holiday season and our health may decline. So what are the contributing factors to maintaining proper health during holidays?

Stay Active

A very important factor in maintaining good health during the holiday season is continuing to exercise. According to Every Body's Personal Trainer, exercise stimulates our cardiovascular system and pumps blood through the body to maintain good circulation.

Strength Training

Strength training can raise serotonin and release endorphins and positive chemicals to elevate your mood. Strength training, in particular, can help to relieve stress and anxiety during holiday season. Exertion and challenge of resistance training tend to improve mental state and create a sense of well-being.

Proper Nutrition

Nutrition is always going to be essential during this time of the year. Making sure to ingest the fruits and vegetables for their micronutrients and a diet low in simple sugar and processed foods is imperative. Staying well-hydrated especially with all of the hustle and bustle and commotion that the holiday season brings is also critical.

Adequate Rest

As is always the case, rest is a contributing factor to health. With stress and busy schedule, sleep and rest tends to be on the back burner. However, this recuperative sleep is very important to keep good health. Make sure to get at least six to eight hours of sleep per day and periodic naps.

Focus On Scheduling

Scheduling can help with all the stressors, prevalent during the busy time of the year. Make sure to budget your time and have a plan ahead of schedule to how you see your day transpiring. Budget time for yourself and others and planning ahead of time can be a determining factor in success.
