Consuming alcohol is not a bad, but excessive consumption can be fatal to the body and mind. There are some warning signs that can alert us before we get trapped in a troubled life.
When we think about alcohol or alcoholism, the first thing that comes to our mind is that it is bad and needs to be kept away from.
People consume drinks for many different reasons, and if they don't step back at the right time, it can lead to alcoholism. The starting stage of this is gradual and cannot be judged until there are some warning signs from the behavior of an alcoholic.

You are surely on the verge of becoming an alcoholic if you can't do anything without drinking or you need it for doing things that a normal person can easily do. If you are aware of the negative effects of alcohol on your work, health, and family or personal life, and still can't stop consuming it, you are getting heavily addicted to it.
Despite regular counseling by a doctor and a positive willpower to quit drinking, if one is still unable to stop the consumption, it is also a warning sign of alcoholism. Intense desire for alcohol in the morning also gives an idea about the level of addiction.

2.Drinking Secretly:

People often drink alcohol to get rid of their stress or sadness, and they do this by drinking in a place where no one can watch them. They also use alcohol as a way of reducing mental pressure, disappointment, and loneliness.

3.Bad Reputation:

If you are being called an alcoholic by people, you need to step back from drinking, as it may spoil your reputation at home and lead to fights and quarrels. It may also lead to issues with friends and/or conflicts at the workplace. If people think bad about you because of your drinking habits, you are heading towards alcoholism.

4.Looking for an Opportunity to Drink:

If you always find some way or the other to drink, you are probably an alcoholic. If your friends discuss going for a party, outing, or an overnight stay, and the first thought that comes to your mind is the availability of alcohol or a good option to drink, it is also a warning sign that you are getting addicted to it.

5.Change in Behavior:

Frequent consumption of alcohol can have a bad effect on your body as well as brain. An alcoholic person starts getting irritated and angry for very small or no reason at all. Low self-confidence, shaky hands, and weakness are also signs of a drinking problem.
There are some incidents which occur due to drinking that relate to violence, like street-fights and physical abuse in the family. Some common signs of alcoholism are low appetite, temporary loss of memory or inability to remember things, unconsciousness, insomnia, loss of control over body, and weight loss.

6.Hiding Alcohol:

If you are scared of showing your liking for alcohol to people and hide it in places like the car, personal cupboard, bathroom, etc., it also means that you are getting addicted to it.

7.Spending Hours at the Bar:

If you spend longer time at the bar to drink than you used to be before, it is also a sign of alcoholism.

8.Less Interest in Recreation:

A person who is on the verge of being an alcoholic would invariably take less interest in a hobby or any type of constructive activity.

9.Neglected Appearance:

A person who starts consuming alcohol would care less about his/her body posture, personal hygiene, and grooming. Such kind of negative aspects are also signs that relate to alcohol abuse.

10.Workplace Issues:

Warning signs of alcoholism can also be determined by factors like poor job performance, blaming others for one's own mistakes, missing important meetings and appointments, problems at work due to hangovers, and arriving late for work very often.
As soon as any of these signs are observed, one needs to pause for a while, think about the level of consumption, and seek professional advice accordingly
