Mouthwash improves the overall health of gums, kills the germs, and gives your mouth a fresh taste. All dentists recommend to brush our teeth twice a day, floss, and rinse with mouthwash in the end. To make a mouthwash for your family and yourself, we have some basic recipes. Even though commercial mouthwash can provide similar results, why not save some money and concoct your own version.
Peppermint-flavored Mouthwash
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons angelica seeds
- Peppermint oil
Procedure
To make the first recipe, boil the water in a stainless steel pan. Pour the angelic seeds, baking soda, and few drops of peppermint oil in it. Turn the heat off, and let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes. Strain it into a clean container and store in the refrigerator after it cools down.
Cinnamon-flavored Mouthwash
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoon parsley
Procedure
To make the recipe, boil the water in a stainless steel pan. Turn the heat off, and add baking soda, whole cloves, peppermint extract, ground cinnamon, and parsley in it. Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes. Strain it into a clean container, and store in the refrigerator after it cools down.
Lavender-flavored Mouthwash
Ingredients
- 1¼ cups water
- 1 tablespoon dried lavender
- 2 tablespoons sweet sherry
Procedure
To make the recipe, boil the water in a stainless steel pan. Add the dried lavender in it, and stir the liquid properly. Place the lid over the pan, and leave the mixture to simmer for about 45 minutes on low heat. Turn the heat off, and strain the liquid into a glass jar. Let the liquid cool down to room temperature. Now add the sweet sherry in the glass jar, and gently mix everything. Place the lid over the glass jar, and store the mouthwash in the refrigerator. To use the mouthwash, shake the bottle, pour out 1 tablespoon of mouthwash in with 1 tablespoon of water.
Fennel-flavored Mouthwash
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 8 drops cinnamon essential oil
- 8 drops fennel essential oil
Procedure
To make the recipe, boil the water in a stainless steel pan, and pour in the cinnamon essential oil. On low heat, let the liquids heat for about 2 minutes. Once it is warm enough, add the fennel essential oil, and heat again for about 2 minutes. Remove the pan from heat, and leave it aside to cool down for about 15 minutes. Stir the liquid in the pan, and pour in to a clean glass bottle. Store in the refrigerator for 24 hours before you use it. Shake the bottle before using the mouthwash, and keep it back in the refrigerator.
Mint-flavored Mouthwash
Ingredients
- 2½ cups water
- 1 teaspoon rosemary leaves
- 1 teaspoon mint leaves
- 1 teaspoon anise seeds
- 1 teaspoon myrrh
Procedure
To make the recipe, boil the water in a stainless steel pan and pour rosemary leaves, mint leaves, and anise seeds in it. Turn the heat off, and let the leaves and seeds sit in for about 20 minutes. Let the liquid cool down, and then add a hint of myrrh in it. Strain the mouthwash, and pour in to a clean glass bottle. Store in the refrigerator, and always shake the bottle properly before use.
