In this busy world, it can be easy to lose grip on ourselves. We can become easily distracted, prone to anxiety, or fall into depression. These can all be dangerous for our health and so we must remind ourselves to practice happiness, mindfulness, and fitness.
Happiness
Believe it or not, your emotions can affect yourself physically, and in powerful ways. Negative emotions, like stress, anxiety, and depression can leave you feeling constantly tired, sick, sore, and if experienced for long enough times, can even pose serious health risks. On the other hand, it is true that laughter is the best medicine. Happiness can improve your lifestyle, which in turn improves your immune system, strengthens your heart, and even reduces pain. In these times, it is a fight to keep a positive mind. That is where we must be mindful.
Mindfulness
Being mindful starts with the first step. When you start to feel stressed, anxious, or depressed, stop for a moment. Think about why you are feeling these specific emotions. Allow yourself some time to think about these problems and how they are affecting you. Then breathe. Remind yourself that you can do it, that you can get through this, and take deep inhales and exhales. It’s okay to not be okay, but it’s not okay to wallow in it. Be mindful of what makes you stressed, and what you can do to lighten the load. Surround yourself with good people and try to treat yourself to something nice every once in a while. Remember to take care of yourself because once you don’t do that, you can’t take care of anything else.
Fitness
When you focus on fitness, you will notice that being happy and mindful is easier. Caring for your fitness will keep you healthier and stronger today and tomorrow. Exercise is a great outlet for negative emotions too, which will make room for more positive ones. You can run, walk, do yoga, swim, etc. No gym is required, just you and a desire to live a better life. If you haven’t really done much in the fitness department in the past, now might be a good time. Find a walking partner, take up yoga, join an aerobics class, or download a daily workout app.
How Do They All Go Together?
Keeping fit will help you stay happy, being happy can exercise your mindfulness, and mindfulness can keep you happy. Practicing happiness, mindfulness, and fitness will greatly improve your lifestyle, health, and mind. Better yet, all these points support each other, so once you get in the habit of them, it will be easier to keep at it. It’s a cycle that you want to repeat often.
Happiness has several health benefits, such as a stronger immune system, a better heart, and even reduced pain; while negative emotions can ravage your body and even your mind over time. Mindfulness can keep us happy, and keeping fit combines it all, making us healthier, happy, and mindful. Doesn’t that sound like a goal we should all have?
